Who We Are, What We Do, and What We Hope To Accomplish
First and foremost - We are dedicated to Charity. You will find the words "Charity Through Music" threaded throughout this article and website, and in announcements and promotions for our events. You might get tired of hearing it. It's our mission statement. We don't get tired of saying it. We do not gain monetarily from our concerts. There are three volunteer organizers working year-round, with a handful of dedicated volunteers to help with phone calls, technical or leg-work when festival time rolls along. we are not members of bands, band managers, area music businesses, members of any political group (local or otherwise), or venue operators. No one is compensated for their talents, no one takes a personal tax write-off. Above all, our mission is
CHARITY THROUGH MUSIC.
This is who we are and what our priorities are as a music organization
in northeast Pennsylvania. Blues and charity walk hand-in-hand. Regardless of your race or religion, you have had the blues. Even wealthy folks get the blues, I've heard. The Blues isn't particular about who gets them. The Blues doesn't go by colors or numbers. It doesn't care who your illustrious ancestors might be, and it doesn't care how many zeros are or aren't in your paycheck. People suffering hardships and pain, from illness, oppression, depression, loss of a mate or a child, prejudice, hard luck – that’s blues, and it has deep roots. It's about picking yourself up, dusting yourself off, and moving on. The goal of charities has always been to cure the blues for someone. And we're going to help them do that. We depend upon sponsors to help front the expenses needed to organize and present a concert, and hope to have more supporters as we become a more familiar presence. We depend upon support from volunteers or donations from the public to help us present a concert. We thankfully receive valuable support from musicians and sponsors who donate time or merchandise/services in the name of charity, without which we cannot continue to organize music festivals. They are who are keeping us alive and helping us toward our goals. Secondary to the charity aspect of what we do, but we hope just as valuable in it's own small way, is the educational and musician resource area, and what we hope visitors will gain from this website. It is meant to be a blues, musician, venue and fan resource. The Endless Mountains Blues Fest™ is non-political, non-profit, we have no agenda or motive aside from charity and getting more blues for us to enjoy in our own backyards. Northeast Pa. should and can be the blues mid-point between Philadelphia and New York City, the places that draw us because of the wide selection of blues clubs and bands. As we said before, we’re going to keep on doing what we do as long as we can do it and gain support from the fans, musicians and the community. Charity Through Music, and more blues through charity – it just might work. fest sponsorships- these are tax deductible as charitable donations. bands who donate performances for the benefit of the charity in whose name we are presenting a festival may consider their performances a deduction for charitable donation. Community support of our association, member support, donations to our organization in support of our charity fund-raising efforts - ***While contributions or gifts to the Endless Mountains Blues Fest itself are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purposes, they may be tax deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code as business expenses. Donations to the organization that are being given directly to and specifically for, a charity after each concert or fundraising event may be considered charitable contributions. please check with your tax advisor.
